YSL Arty Ring Review (not what you expect)

So last week I expressed to you all how super excited I was to order the Yves Saint Laurent "Arty" ring after seeing all the buzz on various bloggers' pages and the tremendous amount of rave reviews from customers who have purchased this item online. After much anticipation, and recieving this ring in the turquoise color in the mail, I may be the outsider on this but I must say: MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT.

I really wanted to love this ring. When I took it out of the packaging, I was pleasantly surprised at the weight of the ring; not cheapily light, but a good heavy, yet not overpowering, weight. When I saw the glass stone however, it looked very cheap in quality along with the goldtone metal setting-not at ALL even close to the picture above courtsey of Saks.com where I rodered it from nor being worth the $290 it sells for (not inlcuding tax of course). Heck for a little under $100 more I can go to jtv.com and get a REAL stone, set in REAL gold, with REAL diamonds accenting the stone, and get a REAL nice look. Take for example this 2.75 carat morganite ring, with diamon accents aset in 10K gold, my mom purchased and recieved today for $359 from jtv.com:

I rather invest in a quality piece of jewelry than a piece of junk fashion jewelry with a designer label slapped behind it. The sizing was WAY off too. I wear a size 4 and 3/4, so I thought I would be good ordering a size 5. Yes, the ring slid on just fine, but then got STUCK and wouldn;t come off when going the other way! My finger literally turned purple and I thought I was going to break my finger struggling to get it off. Several squeezes of hand lotion and 15 minutes later I got the wretched thing off and immediately out it back in the box and affixed the pre-paid reutn shipping label on the box to send it back where it came from!

Yes, I appreciate that the YSL Arty ring is a statement piece and unique in its own right-but just not for me.
